What our readers are saying about us...

Your website is FANTASTIC!! Very informative, interactive, truthful, knowledgeable....I love this site. I will recommend it to all my female friends. - P. Phillips, Blue Springs Missouri

I have to say this is the most informative website I have ever read on menopause. I have read everything I can get my hands on in the last 5 yrs due to my "scary" body changes.

I will be 47 years old tomorrow and I recently found out that I had a fibroid tumor in my uterus. I am also not even sure if I'm still in peri menopause or menopausal. I do, however, have many of the symptoms you have on your list, even the weird whooshing in my ears that I started experiencing last week (I thought I had water in my ear).

I always had very bad periods most of my life and found it strange that they got worse in my early 40s, but now I believe they may be due to menopause. I haven't skipped any periods in the past, but since finding the fibroid, I havent had a period since early August. I do believe I am having a "phantom period" even as I write this. I thought I was going crazy because I would swear I should have my period right now because of the symptoms I am experiencing, but no bleeding.

I do see a doctor regularly and he does discuss these things with me, but only if I bring them up. Your site discusses EVERYTHING, and I love it! I would have never known about a phantom period. I also just printed the exercises that are recommended. I have arthritis but now I'm not sure if those "pains" are all due to only arthritis. I am not overweight and I do exercise (not regularly but I walk regularly), and meditate, but you have given me the incentive to maintain the exercise more diligently. I even enjoyed reading about the essential oils, affirmations, and other suggestions the site offers.

I just wanted to thank you and tell you that I will be sending a link of your site to every friend I have that is in my age bracket. You have made this time in my life a bit less scary and easier to understand.
Thank You - Thank You - Thank You, Marion Palermo

After spending several hours on your website and being provided with so many answers to my questions and concerns about what has been going on with my mind and body in the last year, I just wanted to say what an excellent resource your site has been. It was easy to navigate, understand, and very straight forward. My doctor had stated I was too young to be perimenopausal but I suspected I was having symptoms (and your site listed them all!). She prescribed several drugs which I do not like taking. Your site has provided me with some other options I can pursue and feel knowledgeable enough to ask better questions of my doctor (or find another one). I have lots of emails to send after this one to many friends who I know will find you site just as useful. Thanks again.  - Bonnie R., Las Cruces, NM

I just want to say thank you for the best website ever! I went to Google and found you at the top. Keep up the good work, helping women to deal with menopause. Your site is easy to understand and navigate through. Thanks again for all the good information you provide to women. It’s even better than some doctors I have consulted for learning how to deal with my menopausal symptoms. - Helen

Just wanted to compliment you on your website. It's excellent! I had a complete hysterectomy at 34 (I'm 44 now) and have experienced many problems as a result of improper hormone replacement over the years. I've been to many websites looking for information and research. Your site is one of the best I've seen. Thanks for putting it out here! - Kate M., Canada

Thank you and God bless you. I have been suffering for years from perimenopause and now I have a vehicle with which to have some control over actually receiving some relief! Ob/Gyns need serious education in this area, as three so far have only prolonged my agony. I will to contribute any type of support you may need. And I am so grateful for this website. If only I had discovered it a year ago, when I first went online, I could have been educated and saved myself hundreds of dollars and wasted time. Thank you again. - Bonnie

Thank you - this is one of the best sites I found through the search engines. I am perimenopausal and having some difficulties with the process. I plan to bring some of the things I learned to my doctor's attention when I go next week. - Mary

I just wanted to thank you for the valuable information you have supplied regarding natural hormone replacement therapy. I am in awe of the level and dimension of research you have demonstrated and wish you continued success in this wonderful website. I have searched many other sites and found that yours directed me instantly to answers I needed. Is there a possibility you could make some of the pages "printer friendly" so I wouldn't use up all my colored ink? In any case, thank you so much for being there. - Yvonne

I watched Oprah last night and found out what was wrong with me. And thanks to your web-site, I am able to go to the doctor with information to back up my symptoms. I spent a week in the hospital had three MRIs and MRAs, catscans, spinal tap and all sorts of heart tests. They keep telling me I am the healthiest sick person they have ever seen. I have 33 of the 35 symptoms on your list and have called to make and appointment with a doctor. No longer will they be able to just dismiss me as I know what to ask for now. Maybe someday they will learn women have anxiety because of the way they are treated by the medical profession. Thank you and Oprah for giving me a chance to get my life back. - Jackie

Thanks for your terrific website! Yours is the most helpful of any I've seen. I will be coming back again and again as I need more information. - Sheri

Thank you so much for your great website! I have been so depressed the past 2 years, and on a less severe level, my whole life. I never correlated this last long depression with menopause. I was just about to go on antidepressants, but something felt very wrong for me, and it terrified me! Your site reminds me that I have choices, and I've had much success with herbs (without side effects). Your site gives me much good information and hope. I have been in therapy for some of the long-term emotional things, but have known for many years that my hormones were out of balance, and wonder if that had a lot to do with my depression. For the first time in 2 years, I feel some hope! Thanks for your balanced, wholistic approach. I'm sure I will visit this site regularly. - Salim

A very big thank you for the most informative web site. The teaching on perimenopause is invaluable. Being perimenopausal at 35 years has indeed been an extremely distressing period. But as Oprah said on one of her shows "Come on Menopause Come on". - Diane

Hello! I am experiencing my first "go-round" with perimenopause. Of course, I wasn't sure that's what it was, but after finding your website and reading the information you have put there, I am sure! What a relief to know my body hasn't gone "haywire" for no good reason. This is a GOOD reason - once I get through this perimenopause thing - no more menstrual cycles! HURRAY! I just wanted to thank you for providing such important, accurate information. Thanks, Barbara

I have been referring women to ProjectAware's site for quite some time. I have the utmost respect for the ProjectAWARE web site and it is full of excellent resources and information. Today more than ever, women are searching for accurate information on hormone options and ProjectAWARE provides that and more, and the information offered on bioidentical hormones, which are truly the best options we have available, is excellent. - Jeannah McElroy, Sarasota, FL, TAH/BSO-1997

I was happy to find your site today. I am at the peak of PMS today, and feel awful. Though I have looked at many sites and have many books on menopause, I found yours to be most insightful. I am soon to be 45 years old, and have been feeling progressively worse over the years. The symptoms you describe are me! Sad to say, but it almost makes me happy. My doctor states I'm too young for menopause. I want to say Thank You for looking so deeply into what women really feel while going through this stage of our lives. It's comforting to know that someone out there really knows!! - Shirley

Thank you so much for creating this terrific much-needed one-of-a-kind site. Someone is a genius here - not only for great, informative and detailed content but visually creative. This is a terrific site with information in helping people keep current and updated with all the changes we are not 'aware' of. Can't thank you enough. Great idea. - Mae

Thank You! I found your website this morning and was very excited by the information you've provided and by your mission! I have been doing a lot of research recently on HRT, and hormone balancing. My mother has been on Premarin for years and we will be working to get her off of it as soon as she moves in with me (hopefully in a couple of weeks). It is very difficult to find information on-line that is not sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. It's out there, but often hidden. I have emailed my sister in law your web address so that she can read more about this relative to her heavy cycles. She's 40 and has been dealing with this for over 3 years. I also recently become involved with a company who educates women on health issues and how important it is to do your own research and understand how your own body operates. We have allowed the pharmaceutical companies to have too much power over the information we receive for too long! THANK YOU! - Ann

I just found your site. THANK YOU!!!!! I have been trying to cope with all the frustrations of menopause for 2 or 3 years, with not much help. I almost cried when I read one of the stories about loss of libido. I thought it was all in my head. Also, your list of symptoms. I never knew tinnitus was a symptom. I have learned more in the hour I have been reading your site than all the time I have spent in the last 3 years reading anything I could find. Once again, THANK YOU!!!!! - Connie

This is great information! It helps me to know what I am going through, and helps my doctor as well. Now I know why I am going through lots of stages of various problems. Thank you for all your feedback with this! I will let you know how my health is! - Teresa

I am 50 years old and have been going through perimenopause for many years. Menopause is just around the corner for me. I have chosen against HRT and have done my best to control symptoms herbally. I have visited many websites on the subject of menopause and the information they give is what I already know and not at all informative. I find your site very, very informative and I have added it to my favorites. The next time I have a question or need additional information on the subject, I'm sure I will be able to find it on your site. Keep up the good work! - Ava

I was just using Google to see what sites are coming up regarding POF (Premature Ovarian Failure). Yours comes up very high, and you give the group I work with excellent marks! Thank you! - Catherine Corp, president of Premature Ovarian Failure Support Group, based in Alexandria, VA

Thank you SO much for listening and providing good information. I plan to check out the other book you recommended as soon I finish Dr. Northrup's. Just the title sounds like something I NEED to read! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you! - Cindy

Thank you, Project Aware, for presenting such a good, informative web site. All I was looking for was a list of menopause symptoms -- after nearly an hour of searching the web, your site is the only one I could find that listed more than the four or five most common symptoms. (The sites geared toward physicians had a lot of information but they didn't help me.) My wife and I are not trying to diagnose her condition on our own, but we couldn't tell by the "short lists" if we were even on the right track by considering menopause (or perimenopause). Thank you, again, for the longer list of symptoms -- it is very helpful. - Steve

I can't believe how great this website is -- I looked at the 35 symptoms and said, "That's me, that's me, that's me, that's me." NO other resource has provided me with the detailed, subtle, nagging symptoms I have been experiencing lately (15 to be exact.) I have always been a healthy person, so to be going through these symptoms was startling, scary, and frustrating. I have also used herbs and a natural diet as a way to function, so the information about this is awesome. This site is a DEFINITE Bookmark for me, at age 52 and beyond. Thank you so much. - Barbara

Thanks for this brilliant website. I am at university studying nursing and needed to find information on menopause for a seminar. This was very useful, and I have passed the information on to my mum who has found it very helpful. Thanks again! - Helen

I had been experiencing anxiety and felt like crying all the time. The doctor filling in for my primary doctor prescribed Zoloft. I have not taken it and do not plan to. I told her I think I can handle this through exercise and meditation. She never once considered perimenopause and I feel angry about this. I feel so happy to have found your site because it listed 35 symptoms of menopause and all of my symptoms were listed. Thank you for being there. I thought maybe I was going zonkers. - Laurie

I have been on "Combi-patches" for several years and have long been looking for a better choice. I plan to consult with my physician about Tri-Est. I belong to an HMO and find there is little time available for physicians to address such questions. Thank you so much for all the work and research you have done. Sincerely, Yvonne

I found your site few weeks ago while searching via "Google" for MORE info re osteoporosis & postmenopause. I applaud your initiative, dedication and hard work. - Joan

Thank you. I woke up this morning, wondering what is going on with me. After reading your page of 35 symptoms, I now understand. I am 49 years old and try to take good care of myself. I needed some answers to why some things were happening to me, and now I know it is not me but nature taking its course. Thank you!!! - Charlotte in Saginaw

Thank you for a non-commercial, non-biased site where honest information can help in making decisions over one's body. Women are so lost and frustrated these days. I sort of stumbled across your site and am thrilled to have found a valid source of information. Thank you again for all you do in helping women progress toward more healthy and productive golden years. - Sincerely, Bet Grant

Thank you...thank you. Without your website and the women contribute I would have thought I was losing my mind. It is truly amazing that women have no where to go to discuss this time in their life. I applaud your dedication, keep up the good work, you touch so many lives. - Denise

I just want you to know this is the best site on Menopause that I have ever visited, and I have been to a lot. Thank you for your information on everything I needed to know. - Maryanne

I have just discovered your website, and just wanted to let you know that it was one of the most informative, easily explained sites I have visited. I was so relieved to read the list of symptoms of perimenopause.

Previously, I thought I was going mad, and imagined all the pains my body was going through - the chronic fatigue, joint and muscle pains. I have hypothyroidism and take thyroxine for this, and I thought my Thyroid Function Test levels were out of whack. I also had an IUD fitted 3 months ago to try and help with my very heavy menstrual bleeding, and this seems to be helping. However, since this was fitted all the other symptoms seem to have intensified.

I have also been suffering from GORD and flatulence for the past 3 years, and now think, due to your website, that this could all be connected to being perimenopausal. So, not only may I alleviate my period symptoms, I may also be able to correct my reflux problem. Here's hoping!

Having read your site I am more positive and will be trying some of the "natural" supplements and advice you have given regarding diet etc. Thank you so much for your site, and I will keep you informed of my progress using herbal remedies. - Lindsey

KUDOS! to you ladies for providing this AWESOME website! I know you have put a lot of time and effort into this site and am SO THANKFUL to you for the caring and compassion you show to other women.

I have suffered from depression for most of my 50 yrs of life (not diagnosed until 2 years ago) and with the onset of perimenopause and menopause, I thought I was losing my mind! I have been diagnosed with a few health issues; spina bifida (1 vertebra), osteoarthritis (lower back), bursitis (left hip), chronic pain due to the 2 forms of arthritis, depression, eczema, stress and menopause. In the last 2 yrs and it's been very difficult for me because I was always complaining to my family about some ache and/or pain. I got to the point when I just stopped telling them whenever I wasn't feeling well.

My menopause is a surgical menopause, so for a long time I experienced some of these symptoms and thought I was crazy! Thank you so much for relieving my mind.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for all the information and knowledge! I am going to print out the 35 symptoms of menopause and tape it to the front of my frig so my husband and family can see it, and the next time I experience a symptom, all I have to do is point to the list! LOL!!

Keep up the good work, ladies! God Bless you and all the others who participate in the resources of your web site. - Christine
