Adrenal exhaustion
| Finally, I
did my own research on panic disorder, thyroid and PMS. I got my results
and found my adrenals are completely exhausted! And my hormone results
showed I lack progesterone like the desert lacks water. |
Hello Ladies. I have been suffering from a number of things for 2 years
now. It all started one day while driving to work. I must have had the
worst panic attack ever but I didn't know it at the time. I thought I
was dying and I ended up in the emergency room. There I found out that
I had hyperthyroid. (I was also diagnosed with hypoglycemia when I was
19.)
While awaiting test results from the endocrinologist, I quit driving
and leaving my home due to severe panic attacks. I was tested for other
thyroid functions 3 weeks later and amazingly enough my thyroid levels
had begun to decrease. I was still feeling crazy so then they checked
my iron. It turns out I was suffering from an iron deficiency as well.
Taking iron supplements took away a little bit of the fatigue but I was
still feeling awful.
Six months later my thyroid function was tested again. It was stuck on
borderline hyper where it is to this day, and that was a year and a half
ago. I went to 2 different endocrinologists who refused to treat it saying
it just wasn't high enough. So I gave up on them.
Meanwhile, my fears grew and the agoraphobia got worse. I'm at the point
where I can't check my mail or take my trash out. I've been to 4 different
primary care practitioners and all of them tell me to go to a psychologist,
and then prescribe me Zoloft, Lexapro, Ativan and Xanax. I don't take
synthetic medications and I don't believe I'm suffering from panic disorder
I tell them. They of course didn't listen to me.
My fears grew and I felt worse as the days went by. I was now afraid
of most foods and developed asthma and other allergies that I’ve
never had before in my life. I suffer from severe PMS and infertility.
My hair falls out by the chunks in the shower, I lose weight no matter
what, and I'm irritable, angry and tired all the time.
Finally, I did my own research on panic disorder, thyroid and PMS. I
received an email one day from a women's website and they were linking
anxiety to hormonal imbalance. So, I took it upon myself to order hormone
saliva tests and adrenal function tests, as I had read that a hormonal
deficiency could be the cause of all of my illnesses - thyroid, hypoglycemia,
PMS, anemia, panic.
I got my results and found my adrenals are completely exhausted! My hormone
results showed I lack progesterone like the desert lacks water. I began
seeing a naturopathic doctor and she is the best thing that's ever happened
to me. I will be starting progesterone cream in a few days. She has helped
me so much!
So, ladies please, if a doctor tells you that you have emotional issues
and tries to put you on psychiatric meds, DON'T DO IT! More than likely
you have underlying endocrine problems that will make you feel as though
you've lost your mind and are close to death. There is a simple answer.
Test yourself. Be your own doctor to some degree and research all you
can and then find yourself a natural doctor to help you. Western medicine
has gone down hill. Synthetics are no good for you. They can make the
problem worse.
I hope my story will help someone out there and provide some light at
the end of their dark tunnel. God Bless!!
Jessica
